Hello again!

Does it notify you when I post on here? I hope it does XD

Sorry for the late reply, been in Egypt!

I'm coming over with Interac in the Spring this year, should hear placement and departure date soon. I'm pretty flexible with my placement, though. Improve that nihongo!

Looks like you're loving being back, very glad to see it. Any tips for me in case I end up in the inaka?

haha I actually had a fantastic Christmas and New Years! I plan on blogging about it soon.

Thrilled to hear that you're into bonobos --- they're such an underrated band. Pastrama is a great album, but try and get your hands on A, Un. As a whole work, it's much better!

Happy new years!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Dogen. Bet it wasn't a very exciting Christmas in Japan, but maybe not. Do something fun for New Year!

Thanks for the bonobos recommendation. You're always touting that band so I figured I'd give it a shot. Not so easy to find here in the states as I'm sure your aware of. I couldn't find a legit means of finding and buying their albums with dollars (only yen!!) except for import sites that costed like 57 bucks for Golden Days (6 songs I think?).

Anyway I managed to dig up their Pastrama - best hits album and I'm loving it. I wonder why American Reggae pales in comparison - I guess the reggae that has become popular in America is just a butchered version... Sean Kingston and the like, I'm looking at you.

Strangely Japanese reggae feels more authentic to me. It's a different kind of reggae for certain, with drum kits, bongos, electronic synth stuff, and a more "singing" style as opposed to classic reggae (Marley, Wailers, etc). But, it feels like a natural fit... if that makes any sense at all.

In any event, it's turned me into one of those strange always smiling people. There's feet of snow on the ground, temperature is in the teens and I'm on a bus listening to Japanese reggae smiling. This sure is a strange world.

Hi Kevin!

Jennie from Keio here, stumbled across your blog again in preparation for my return to Japan as an ALT!

Had to comment on this post - seeing two of my favourite bands pop up, Muse and Lostprophets! Have seen them both live, and they're absolutely amazing. Went to see Muse 9 times, in fact ;)

Check out Muse's new album - 'The Resistance'. I waited with baited breath for this, but don't think it's as strong as their new stuff.

Hope all is well in Japan, have a lovely Christmas and New Year!
